The front of the car shakes very bad when you apply the brakes while exiting a highway. I have also changed the rear single lights in my car three times in the past 6 months. When applying the brakes at night, the headlights and dash lights dim to a softer shade of light. Please help by asking gm to recall this safety problem before some one get s hurt or even killed. With only one high beam head light working and no drl's my car has become a safety hazard for my wife and daughter, and even my self to drive. Why is there not a safety recall for day time running lights?Īfter all they are a safety feature and do save lives, by making the smaller cars more visable to other drivers. After doing a little research on the internet I see that cavilers have a drl problems all over the place. 00 dollars just to tell my wife to tighten the gas cap when you fill up the car. 00 bucks just to hook my car to a machine to tell me whats wrong with it, after the last trip to the dealer for a check engine light, that cost me $180. Day time running lights are a safety feature for my car and they are not working, the dealer wants $100. Also the right side high beam head light does not work after the drl flash and go out(right side if you are facing the front of the car that is) replaced the right side head light and still have the same problem. When you put the car into gear, you hear a clicking noise,(maybe a relay switch)? and the drl icon on the dash flashes about 5 or 6 times along with the headlights and the drl turned off, and the service engine light comes on, when you turn off the car and restart it the service light is off, must reset. My 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier day time running lights (drl) quit working!. The cause of this fire has been ruled accidental caused by a break in the plastic retention clip for the headlamp assembly loosening the bulb from its proper placement and then touching combustible materials and igniting. The fire caused minimal damage to the vehicle and the fire was extinguished with a dry chemical fire extinguisher. The heat from the bulb on the right side of the vehicle ignited the plastic wire harness as well as the plastic headlamp assembly (see photo #5). The heat from the bulb ignited the plastic wiring harness on the left side of the vehicle (see photo #7). The bulbs were part of the daytime running light system therefore they were on at the time of the accident. The impact of the collision caused the plastic housing around the bulb to break and dislodge the bulb from the headlamp assembly. The bulbs for each unit were connected to the wiring/socket area. The left front headlamp assembly was found on the ground away from the vehicle.

The right front headlamp assembly area did sustain some melting and burning to the rear of the unit. Upon my examination of the vehicle, I observed the front end of the involved vehicle with moderate front-end damage. Bethel car one, pete holmberg, requested this fire marshal due to the fire damage to the vehicle. Upon arrival a two car mva was discovered with a small vehicle fire extinguished by the bethel pd. On the above date and time, the bethel fire department was dispatched to the intersection of reservoir st and grassy plain street for a motor vehicle accident.

What the heck?.Ģ car vehicle collision-see police report. I have to now shut the car off and pull the ignition fuse and then reinsert it to get the car in gear. When I returned to the car, I inserted the fuses and started the vehicle but was unable to shift the car into gear as the car would not let me depress the button on the shifter to do so. I left the car only after I pulled the left and right fuse from the panel. The vehicle was shut off, the key was removed from the ignition and the running lights remained on as did the warning alarm as though the key were left in the ignition. Today, everything above happened along with some news things. I have to limit my driving to daytime driving and only use the running lights as it appears to only aggravate the problem when I use my headlights. The other evening, I was coming home on a winding back country road and all of my lights went out. The gauges will intermittently go off and on or all of them will drop of with no reading. In the odometer and "error" message replaces the odometer reading. Then, all of the gauges drop to nothing you don't know how fast you're traveling, what your fuel capacity is, the temperature gauge drops to nothing along with the tachometer dropping to nothing.

All of the trouble lights come on including the service light with a wrench.
